Stenographer Grade C & D Examination
Department of personnel training conducts SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Examination at national level.
The major objective of Stenographer Grade C and D Examination is to enlist candidates for the Central Government Ministries/Departments.
Syllabus for SSC stenographer is same as other examinations. It includes General Intelligence & Reasoning of both verbal and non-verbal type, General Awareness and English Language & Comprehension.
Selection Process of Stenographer job is done in two stages such as Written Examination and Skill Test.
Written Examination is based on objective type questions. There are 200 Multiple Choice Questions that carry 200 Marks. The test also has negative marking, 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The duration of examination is 2 Hours. Visually Handicapped Person will be given total time duration of 2 Hours and 40 Minutes to complete this written test.
The Skill Test in Stenography for SSC Stenographers examination is only for those candidates who secure qualifying marks in the Written Examination as may be prescribed by the Commission. The Commission will fix the qualifying standards in the skill test for different categories of candidates.
For this test, candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade -C' and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade -D'. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only. The transcription time for Stenographer Grade -D' is 50 minutes ( English ) and 65 minutes ( Hindi ) and for Stenographer Grade -C' is 40 minutes ( English ) and 55 Minutes (Hindi ).
In skill test, there is no relaxation in any category.
Nagative Marking:
There will be negative marking for each wrong answer and deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
After qualifying written test, there is Physical Endurance Test (PET) and Medical Test. Candidates must have to go through PET / Medical Examination. It is required to clear Eligibility and Physical Endurance Test (PET) and medical test to appear in the Personality Test / Interview.
Interview will be based on the combined performance in Paper I and II of the written examination.
Tips for Interview:
Candidates must be prepared for conditional interview in which behavior of the candidates in a particular condition is assessed. Aspirant's personal opinion will be most important for such type of interview. There is also performance related interview in which questions about earlier experience on particular topics can be asked. Candidate's behavior on some matters of concern will be asked. Some general question will be asked to test the awareness of candidates.
Additionally, interviewers also test stress level under extreme conditions. They may provoke candidates through bad comments to check their tolerance level. These are some of the areas that candidates have to prepare to face the interview. Therefore they must make plan to deal with the interview questions to qualify in this exam.
