Exam Pattern of National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination


To get admission in the admission at the National Defence Academy & Naval Academy, a candidate must go by three stages of Testing by the UPSC.

Stage I - Written Examination OF NDA

There will be written Examination for total of 900 marks in two Subjects:

1. Mathematics - Maximum marks is 300 and the duration of the test is 2.5 Hrs.

2. General Ability Test - Maximum marks is 600 and the duration of the test is 2.5 Hrs.

The papers in both the subjects will consist of objective type questions only.

The question papers (test booklets) of mathematics and part-B of General Ability Tests will be set bilingually in Hindi as well as English.

Stage II - Interview for NDA

The Stage - II will comprise of an Interview & an Intelligence and personality test

Interview:

An Interview will be conducted to those candidates who are successful in the written examination by the Service Selection Board to evaluate a candidate's officer potentialities (Intelligence and personality test) and this Interview is conducted for 900 marks.

Intelligence and personality test For NDA:

    Apart from the interview, the candidates will be put to Intelligence Tests both verbal and non-verbal, designed to assess their basic intelligence.

    They will also be put to Group Tests such as group discussions, group planning, outdoor group tasks, and asked to give brief lectures on specified subjects.

All these tests are intended to judge the mental caliber of a candidate. In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only his intellectual qualities but also his social traits and interests in current affairs.

Stage III - Medical Examination For NDA

Stage III will comprise of a Medical Examination by the Service Medical Board. For further details candidates are advised to see the notification published.
