It is one of the few colleges that offer degree courses in geography besides subjects like philosophy, sociology and languages. The science department recently introduced courses in biotechnology and microbiology.

The college boasts of excellent academic performance. "From 8.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., I do the rounds in the college to make sure that no student misses class and no teacher is dawdling," says principal S.R. Arora.

The college is one of the only liberal co-ed colleges of its kind. It has its own parliament, cabinet, prime minister, complete with the opposition and periodic sessions. This year, short courses in media studies and diction have been introduced.

Symbiosis College, Pune(Est: 1983)
