The Common Entrance Test (CAT) 2013 online entrance examination for admission in 13 Indian Institute of Management (IIM)s of country will start from Wednesday. IIM-I in collaboration with Prometrics is hosting entrance examination which is expected to be taken up around 2 lakh students from across country. The number of examination centers has been increased from 36 to 40 this year.

"The number of examination centers has been increased and there will be surprise checking too," CAT coordinator Rohit Kapoor told reporters. The four new test centers added for CAT 2013 are Surat, Udaipur, Trivandrum and Vijayawada. The 20 days online examination will conclude on November 11. The result of the test will be declared by January 14, the notification states.

It was the first time that CAT aspirants were provided option of online application form procurement which was introduced by hosting institute- IIM-I. There are 3,335 seats available in IIMs this year with admission of 115 seats in a few IIMs. The CAT registration process started on August 5 and ended on September 26. IIM-I has not increased number of seats in PGP this year as it had already increased it in 2010 from 250 to 450. Sources claimed that this could also be last time that Prometrics is holding CAT as IIM-I has invited other IT companies for holding next CAT of 2014. In addition sources claimed that sections on Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning will be a part of CAT 2013.
