It is a seven digit unique identification code which will be given to the students appearing for their Indian School Certificate (ISC) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) exams. This ID code will remain with them for life, enabling them to get documents like duplicate mark-sheet etc, without difficulty from this year onwards.
For example, if a Class 10 student moves to another school after Class, the code will help him/her to get his documents directly from the Council within a few days. Students doesn’t need to contact the school for everything, the number will help him get things done on his own.
With the aim to modernize the process of get the duplicate copies Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has introduced to replace the older method. Earlier students would apply for a duplicate mark-sheet through the school in which she/he has completed her schooling. Later the school would in turn apply for the mark-sheet to the board. Under the new system (2014), the index and the registration number of students and its introduction is part of a digitalization drive of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) which will be replaced by the unique identity code. A number of online processes would be involved as against the manual work involved followed as most of the paper work needed to be done manually. The new changes will enable us to do everything online. In case of loopholes or problems, say in filling up forms, it can be easily rectified.
UID is a set of 7-digit random numbers. It does not mention the student’s centres and roll numbers in it. The unique numbers cannot be accessed by others to obtain student’s marks from the council’s website. They maintain anonymity of the student and even the examiner will not know the identity of the student or the school. The UID numbers will help the students in various aspects where they want to procure duplicates of their marksheets or change their names and want marksheets re-issued in their new names.
