As far as the eligibility conditions of the candidates who intend to pursue Marine Engineering are concerned, they must basically have a plus two(+2) or equivalent with high percentage of marks in subjects as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. These courses are of 4 years duration. There are lots of research fellowships / scholarships available for the deserving candidates in India and Abroad. A good PhD programme takes minimum of four years to complete.

Many universities offer Marine Engineering courses in Bachelor's level worldwide. Those who have BE in Marine engineering can pursue post graduation that is M.E in Marine engineering which is of two years duration and Ph.D. Educational qualification for M.E and Ph.D, is BE in Marine Engineering and M.E in Engineering respectively.
