Indian Forest Service Examination (IFS)

The Indian Forest Service Exam (IFS) conducted every year by the UPSC, India is one of the prestigious exams of the country which is conducted for recruiting officers for the Indian Forest Service. Although IFS is an All India Service and the candidates are recruited by the Government of India, their services are put under the various State cadres, with the privilege of serving both under the State and the Central Governments.

Qualified candidates of Indian Forest Service Exam (IFS) will be posted as any of the few under mentioned positions:
  • Assistant Conservator
  • District Conservator
  • Chief Conservator
  • Principal Conservator
  • Inspector General of forests
  • The senior most post is the Environment Secretary in the Union Government.

Important Dates for Indian Forest Service Examination (IFS)

UPSC conducts the Indian Forest Service Exam generally in the month of July.
Notification of the Examination commences in the month of February/March
