Eligibility for Group IV Exam 2017


Candidates who are applying for the examination must fulfil the requirements like age limit and qualifications. Below you can see the complete list of eligibility details such as qualification, age limit, minimum marks/scores.

What is the age limit and educational qualification for TNPSC group IV Exam ?

Age limit for TNPSC group IV, varies according to the posts and reservations. The candidates required minimum 18 years age and upper age relaxation will be as per the government rules where SCs, STs and notified communities aren’t given maximum age, others are given the limit of 30 years.

B(I).Educational Qualification for TNPSC Group IV Exam 2016 :

Candidates should possess the following or its equivalent qualification: Must possess Minimum General Educational Qualification viz., Must have passed S.S.L.C Public Examination or its equivalent with eligibility for admission to Higher Secondary Courses of Studies (or) to College Courses of studies.

Note :The candidates who have not passed SSLC Examination or its equivalent are not eligible even if they possess a higher qualification.

B(II). Technical Qualification

(a) FOR TYPIST:

Must have passed the Government Technical Examination in Typewriting:-

  1. by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and English (or)
  2. by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and Lower/ Junior Grade in English (or)
  3. by Higher / Senior Grade in English and Lower/ Junior Grade in Tamil.
(b) FOR STENO-TYPIST, GRADE III :

Must have passed the Government Technical Examination both in Typewriting and in Shorthand:-

  1. by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and English (or)
  2. by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and Lower/ Junior Grade in English (or)
  3. by Higher / Senior Grade in English and Lower/ Junior Grade in Tamil.

Candidates who possess intermediate grade shall choose Junior Grade column, as the intermediate grade is not treated as equivalent to Senior Grade.

Candidates for both the posts i.e. Typist and Steno-Typist, Grade III Shall be selected in the following Order:-
  1. Candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (i) above will be considered first for selection.
  2. In case candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (i) above are not available, candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (ii) above will be considered for selection.
  3. In case candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (i) and (ii) above are not available, candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (iii) above will be considered for selection.
(c) Computer Qualification (for Typist and Steno-Typist, Grade III):-

Candidate should have passed the "Certificate Course in Computer on Office Automation" awarded by the Technical Education Department.

Note:

"Candidates who do not possess the said qualification (viz. Computer Qualification) conducted by the Technical Education Department may also apply. If selected, they should acquire such qualification within the period of their probation".

(d) Preference in Selection

In respect of post of Field Surveyor other things being equal preference shall be given to the candidates with ITI qualification in survey.

Selection Procedure:

Selection will be complete on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Examination, post/Unit option exercised by the applicants.

Written Examination Pattern:
  • Written test conducted by TNPSC consists of single paper.
  • This exam is based on the topics of General Knowledge & General Tamil / General English.
  • The type of written exam is objective type includes 200 questions clutches 300 marks.
  • 3 hours is the time duration for the examination.
  • The minimum qualifying marks for assortment is 90.
