Group C officers and cadres under non-technical category are recruited through Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) spread across the country. Recruitment needs of Group C – Non Technical Cadre of each Railway Recruitment Board are met with the specified divisions on the Railways. Though RRBs are located at different states, there is no regional or linguistic requirement for any post.
The examinations are designed as per the standards needs of the post and no interviews are conducted in some categories. There will be variations in exam pattern depending upon job profiles. The questions in the test will be mainly Objective Type. Candidates are expected to possess a broad knowledge of current events and matters of general interest particularly related to India, including Indian Railways. Depending upon the number of vacancies and merit list, candidates are called for interview. Final selection is based on the total marks obtained in the written examination and interview. Selection committee is authorised to conduct more than one written test may be conducted if the number of applicants is large. After selection, successful applicants are called for counselling and scrutiny of original documents for verification and a panel of names are then recommended to zonal railway / production unit, depending on the number of vacancies. The candidates will be required to pass a medical examination before appointment.
Group C – Non Technical Cadre Examination posts include Traffic Apprentice, Commercial Apprentice, Assistant Station Master, Trainee Guard, Goods Guard, Enquiry-cum-Reservation Clerk, Office Clerk, Accounts Clerk, Junior Accounts Assistant, Junior Accounts Assistant, Clerk-cum-Typist, Stenographer(English/Hindi), Typist (English/Hindi), Train Clerk , Statistical Clerk, Goods Clerk, Coaching Clerk, Ticket Collector and Commercial Clerk. Age limit for the post is 18-30 years.
