Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Exam Online Application Process begins

Candidates who want to apply for Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) exams can now apply online (CBSE) from July 15 onwards. The application for the same can be submitted on http://ctet.nic.in/ctetapp/Online/RegCand.aspx

The exam which is conducted CBSE will be held on September 21 and the candidates will be able to download their admit cards on August 22, 2014. Candidates are allowed to make corrections from August 12 to August 19, 2014.

Candidates who clear the examination can get recruited as a teacher for classes from Grade 1 to Grade eight in the below mentioned schools.

  • Central Government schools (KVS, NVS, Tibetan schools etc.)
  • Schools under administrative control of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Adaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and National Capital Territory of Delhi.

To be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools referred to in clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act, the applicant should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the appropriate Government in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The rationale for including the TET as a minimum qualification for a person to be eligible for appointment as teacher will ensure:

  • National standards and benchmark of teacher quality in the recruitment process
  • Induce teacher education institutions and students from these institutions to further improve their performance standards
  • Send a positive signal to all stakeholders that the Government lays special emphasis on teacher quality.
