Eligibility For B.Arch

Qualifying Examinations and Eligibility

  1. HSC (Academic)/Equivalent
    Candidates who have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
    1. General category candidates should have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate.
    2. SC/ ST candidates should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate.
  2. Diploma
    Candidates who have passed 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central / State Governments.
    1. General category candidates should have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together.
    2. SC/ST candidates should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together.
  3. International Baccalaureate Diploma
    Candidates who have passed International Baccalaureate Diploma after 10 years of schooling, with Mathematics as compulsory subject.
    1. General category candidates should have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together.
    2. SC/ST candidates should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together.

Note:

  1. When the candidates produce Grade certificates, they have to produce the actual marks also otherwise only the minimum marks applicable to the grades in the eligible subjects will be taken into account.
  2. For the purpose of calculation of marks in respect of sandwich Diploma candidates, the marks of all the other semesters except industrial training shall be considered.

Aptitude Test

The candidates should have passed (pass mark is 80 out of 200) the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2010 conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi.

Mode Of Selection For B. Arch.

The selection of candidates will be on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and also in the NATA 2010 conducted by the Council of Architecture. The candidates should have passed NATA and should submit a copy of the mark sheet along with the application. Those who have not appeared and passed in the NATA are not eligible for B. Arch. Degree Course. HSC Academic/Diploma/Equivalent
The total academic marks for HSC (Academic/Equivalent) will be reduced to 200. For Diploma candidates the academic marks in all the semesters put together will be reduced to 200. The maximum mark for NATA is 200. Ranking of the candidates will be based on 400 marks (NATA mark 200 and Academic mark 200).
A merit list will be prepared based on the total marks of 400. In cases where more than one candidate have got the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se-merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as given below.
  1. Academic Aggregate for 200
  2. Date of Birth (elder will be given preference)
  3. Random number assigned (higher value will be given preference).
The overall rank and community-wise rank lists will be published in the Anna University Chennai website http://www.annauniv.edu/tnea2010. Separate announcement will not be given in the Newspapers. The candidates will also be informed of their rank individually by post through the counselling Call Letter. The college will be provisionally allotted only through counselling.

Counselling Of Candidates

  1. Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of their merit. Based on the merit and communal reservation, allotment of the branch/campus chosen by the candidate will be made. Candidates have to opt for campus and branches that are available at the time of counselling.
  2. Candidates have to pay an initial deposit of Rs.5000/- by Cash or DD in favour of “The Director, Admissions, Anna University Chennai” payable at Chennai and produce all their original certificates during counselling.
  3. If a candidate has deposited all the certificates in an Institution where he/she has already been admitted, a letter from the Head of the Institution should be produced to that effect. In such cases only, xerox copies of certificates attested only by the Head of the Institution will be accepted for verification. However, the provisional allotment order will be withheld and it will be released only on production of all the original certificates.
  4. Eligible candidates who have applied may appear for counselling according to their cut-off mark, two hours before the counselling session on the dates given in the website along with their original certificates for verification, irrespective of receipt of individual communication.

The date, time and venue for counselling will be intimated to the candidates, and it will be published in Anna University Chennai website. No change of date/time of counselling is permissible. Authorities are not responsible for any postal delay; or non receipt of intimation for counselling. Candidates who do not attend the counselling have to forego the claim for admission.

Due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counselling on the specified date and time, he/she can authorise his/her parent on his/her behalf and the parent’s decision will be binding on the candidate. Once allotted a seat, Rs. 5,000/- already paid at the time of counselling will be adjusted towards the tuition fee. If a candidate does not join after allotment and seeks refund, only 80% of the initial deposit amount paid at the time of counselling will be refunded, if original allotment order with acknowledgement for the receipt of payment is surrendered on or before 31.10.2010.

Registration Of Application Form

The candidates can register only through internet by logging on to www.annauniv.edu/tnea2010. After entering the required information in the application form, press the submit button, then take a printout, affix a photograph and affix the signature at the appropriate spaces provided. The printout application along with the registration fee in the form of a D.D. only should be sent along with all the enclosures by Speed/ Registered post to the address given below.

All the Demand Drafts should be drawn in favour of “The Director, Admissions, Anna University Chennai” payable at Chennai. Registration fee for:

  1. B. E. / B. Tech. only - Rs. 500/-
  2. B. Arch. only - Rs. 500/-
  3. B. E. /B. Tech. and B. Arch. - Rs. 1000/-
The last date for registration is 19.06.2010 (5.30 p.m.)
PAYMENT BY ANY OTHER MODE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
