Notification
The selection committee shall not be responsible for any delay in the receipt or for the loss in transit of application form etc., request for extension of time for submission of documents called for, after the specified date and time will not be entertained, any supporting documents received after the due date or application without required documents/ particulars will not be entertained, candidates claiming special category (Physically challenged, Eminent Sportsperson, Children of Ex-Servicemen and Children of Freedom Fighter) should apply in the prescribed format for special category and also to General category separately (i.e., they have to submit two applications one for general category and another one for special category) and submit both the applications to the Secretary, Selection Committee, Chennai, if not they will not be considered for admission to MBBS/BDS course for General and special categories
- Candidates applying under special category should apply in the application form prescribed for special categories which could be obtained on payment of Rs 100/- in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of the secretary, selection committee, Chennai-10, payable at Chennai, for each special category, subject to the maximum of three special categories
- Separate special category application should be used for each special category. However the candidates applying under Ex-servicemen and physically challenged special categories will be considered for both MBBS and BDS courses. They need not apply separately for BDS course
- Candidates applying under sports category should submit the applications with necessary documents in person at the office of the selection committee, Chennai. Without the required documents, their claim will not be considered under any circumstances
Candidates selected under general category will not be allowed to claim the very same status as the candidates selected under special category and vice versa
Eligibility
Candidate should be a citizen of India
Nativity: Candidate should be a native of Tamil Nadu. Except the candidates who have studied in schools in the state of Tamil Nadu from 8th standard to plus two, the others should produce the nativity certificate from the competent authority. The candidates who are the children of parents of Tamil Nadu origin; but living in other states should also produce the nativity certificate. Permanent residence certificate will not be accepted
Age limit:
Should have completed the age of seventeen years on or before 31st December 2011
Education qualifications: Candidates should have passed in all the subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher secondary certificate examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu state board/any other equivalent Board in one and the same attempt in the following group of subjects with the minimum eligible marks; Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology or Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any other subjects
Minimum eligibility marks
MBBS: Other communities, a minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together; a minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry; aggregate of the percentage of marks should not be less than 140 out of 200 marks
Backward class and backward class muslim; a minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together; a minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry; aggregate of the percentage of marks should not be less than 130 out of 200 marks
Most backward classes and denotified communities; a minimum of 55% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together; a minimum of 55% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry; aggregate of the percentage of marks should not be less than 120 out of 200 marks
SC/SC-Arunthathiyar, ST; a minimum of 40% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together; a minimum of 40% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry; aggregate of the percentage of marks should not be less than 80 out of 200 marks
BDS: The candidates (OC/BC/BCM/MBC/DC) should have obtained not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Botany and Zoology taken together at the qualifying examination; SC/SC-Arunthathiyar/ST, the aggregate marks required for admission shall be 40%
Application Process
Before filling up the application form and OMR sheets, read all the instructions carefully; use one common application form for MBBS and BDS courses; fill up the application form and OMR sheets legibly, neatly and correctly. The information will be processed by using a computer. Any mistake committed by the candidate will prejudice the selection
Do not fold OMR sheets under any circumstance. Making a hole, using a pin or a stapler on the OMR sheets should be avoided. Cutting, overwriting and erasing in the application form and in the OMR sheet or scrutiny form should be strictly avoided
Candidates should inform the change of address, immediately to the selection committee. If the change of address is not intimated to the selection committee in time, the selection committee will not be responsible for delay in communication or its consequences. The results will be published on the website www.tnhealth.org/ www.tn.gov.in as well as in the notice board of the selection committee, Directorate of Medical Education, Chennai
Application with incomplete or insufficient particulars or without enclosures or those received after the last date mentioned will be summarily rejected
Filled up applications without the signature of the candidates will be rejected
